Extra! Extra!
I am involved with developing and executing programming with the Kwanzaa Charlotte Committee. Typically an in-person gathering, in 2020 we hosted our first virtual series of programs, for which I created infographics for each principal and edited video footage.

NewsVision Fall 2021 Newscast
NewsVision is the capstone course for broadcast journalists at the Cathy Hughes School of Communication. The cohort, dubbed Frontline Nine, produced a newscast that is a culmination of the semester’s reporting.
Editor Assignment
I was tasked to pitch a reporter a written and visual story idea.
While writing the assignment letter was simple enough, creating the video pitch made me very nervous (it’s evident, lolol) as I typically shy away from the camera, but I did learn from the experience. I think it’s a good option to have in the digital age, especially if someone is relying on a digital newsroom to collaborate.

Politics and Protests:
Saturday, August 28 marked the 58th anniversary of the March on Washington, ushered in by the March On for Washington and Voting Rights march and the HBCU March of the Generations. These events are direct responses to issues related to policing, enfranchisement and civil rights; they simultaneously commemorate the work of forebears and demand change for the coming generations. This country is shaped by Black life, and as such, Black life is both commonplace and revolutionary: activism is community-building and celebrating as well as organizing and advocating. For Black people, life goes on, as does the struggle. NewsVision reporter Hadiya Presswood reflects on a protest in Charlotte, North Carolina.
